Bluebox Avionics secures adds Apple’s iPad to its Bluebox Lite portable offering

Bluebox Avionics Ltd confirmed today that it has successfully ported over its PC based operating and security software to the Apple platform enabling it to utilise the latest consumer innovation - the iPad.

Rick Stuart, Joint M.D. at Bluebox commented: "This device sits very neatly within our current range of portables that carry the Bluebox software system. The iPad allows access to a huge range of applications that are already available for this device plus gives airline an opportunity to design their own. Bluebox Lite units have always been wifi capable, ready to leverage the emergence of in cabin connectivity and passengers desire to be connected to the internet. This device was specifically designed by Apple for this purpose so it was an easy decision to bring it into the Bluebox product family”

Murray Skelton, CTO at Bluebox noted: “We are always looking for suitable COTS devices to add to the Bluebox portable line-up and the iPad fitted our requirements very well. The conversion of our PC based Bluebox operating system has been very smooth and we are very pleased with the added capability to our proposition that the iPad brings”
